Loyal & Trustworthy

I value my character and integrity above all things, and those traits are demonstrated in my personal and professional performance and behavior.  My character has, time and again, earned me the trust of others.  I also place a high value upon loyalty, and have learned how to develop loyalty over my many years of leadership experience.  For example, if I am provided the opportunity by a senior to express a recommendation, and a different choice is made, I carry out the senior's decision as if it were my own.  I believe loyalty is a required commodity, not an option.  With character, integrity, and loyalty; mutual trust is developed and all things become possible: groups become teams, individuals perform to their highest potential, and all profit.  I love setting the stage for that leap to mutual trust, and following through to the inevitable success of the company, its departments, divisions, teams, and employees.

Inspirational Leader

I love working with and learning from people; and providing gold standard 'customer service' to the employees of my organization.  Through committed employee engagement, I help earn employee's trust that management considers employees the company's most valuable asset ..... because they are.  My work ethic has been honed to a fine edge by spending thousands of days getting the job done and not watching a clock.  I am comfortable with making decisions, and being held accountable for outcomes, under duress and with imperfect information.  Finally, I nurture and maintain a deep sense of humor and goodwill; and have been accused of being 'always upbeat!

Patient & Driven

I am an analyst by nature.  I gather facts wherever possible and shape those facts into patterns to identify problems, and scope solutions.  Patience is required to analyze challenges, scope problems, and optimize solutions.  Patience is also required to develop and apply different leadership styles to diverse individuals, as appropriate, to inspire their best performance.  I am driven and I love to win, hate to lose, and I embrace hard challenges. I've always learned from failures and setbacks, and apply those lessons to the "next hard thing

    U.S. Naval Academy
Bachelor of Science in Physical Science
The United States Naval Academy is a four-year coeducational federal service academy in Annapolis, Maryland, United States. Established on 10 October 1845, it is the second oldest of the United States' five service academies, and educates officers for commissioning primarily into the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps. Candidates for admission generally must both apply directly to the academy and receive a nomination, usually from a Member of Congress. Students are officers-in-training and are referred to as midshipmen. Tuition for midshipmen is fully funded by the Navy in exchange for an active duty service obligation upon graduation. Approximately 1,200 "plebes" enter the Academy each summer for the rigorous Plebe Summer, but only about 1,000 midshipmen graduate. Graduates are usually commissioned as ensigns in the Navy or second lieutenants in the Marine Corps. The academic program grants a Bachelor of Science degree with a curriculum that grades midshipmen's performance upon a broad academic program, military leadership performance, and mandatory participation in competitive athletics. Midshipmen are required to adhere to the academy's Honor Concept.

Recommendations

  • I know Eric as one of the standout leaders and senior-level human capital strategist in the U.S. Navy. Eric has a verifiable record of consistently delivering on complex human capital workforce requirements in a variety of roles and capacities across a 400,000-plus uniformed workforce. In his current role as the Deputy Total Force Manager for Navy Region Midwest, Eric oversees the talent management and development of 16,000 employees in support of the Navy's human capital requirements covering 16 states. Prior to that, Eric led 400+ employees and was instrumental in defining and accessing to Navy-wide manpower needs that were directly tied to the Navy's long-term strategic goals and objectives. What impresses me most about Eric is his leadership experience and expertise in all key HR value chain activities. He is a mature leader who knows how to bring out the best in the one true source of competitive advantage . . . human capital. The results speak, Eric consistently achieves breakthrough results and delivers on challenging mission requirements. He is, in my view, an ideal senior staff leader, line business partner, and manager who understands business and how to align human capital to deliver on organizational requirements.

  • I have had the pleasure of knowing Eric Johnson for over 30 years - from our time as classmates at the U.S. Naval Academy through (and including) our close working relationship when we served together on the staff of the Chief of Naval Personnel. Eric Johnson exudes a remarkably strong perspective, sense of self, and desire to lead and serve others; he is truly dedicated to the promotion and prosperity of the others. Highly respected for his integrity, unswerving loyalty, and superior judgment, his leadership abilities and dedication earned him the admiration of all who worked with and for him. Experienced, motivated, and results focused, Eric is an inclusive manager whose innovative team building, effective communications and passion for the mission brings out the best in all personnel and develops their full potential. He is uniquely adept at defining problems accurately, tackled significant challenges and delivering solutions, and then building and leading teams to attain success. A valued friend, Eric is an outstanding and inspiring leader, and has served as one of my most trusted peer mentors throughout my career. I recognize the value of a leader and a mentor who exhibits personal initiative, unparalleled motivation, and perceptive judgment. I observed and learned those values firsthand when I had the pleasure of working with Eric Johnson. His loyalty, drive for perfection, total dedication to the mission and exceptional professionalism will make him an extremely valued asset to any organization.
